Podcast Cover Artwork for The Tarah and Barry Show

The Tarah and Barry show is a podcast about ADHD in life and love. So when Tarah came to me asking asking for a podcast cover artwork, I knew we had to make the graphic feel bold, fun and exciting to reflect that.

The background is comprised of a pink, orange and yellow gradient I created using Photoshop. In the background I’ve also added a TV static texture and bokeh. I have used these effects in other graphics I have created for Tarah in the past so it helps keep everything cohesive and branded.

I created the podcast logo by stacking the words Tarah & Barry in a bold sans-serif font. I then had to flip the main image so the names matched the person when read left to right. Then I added a thick stroke to the background of the text and applied the same gradient to the stroke that I had to the background. I then added the words “the” and “show” in their branded script font. I then created the neon type effect using various drop shadows, layer styles and an outerglow.

I then added some final colour adjustments over the whole graphic to bring everything together. A mistake many amateur graphic designers make is not blending the subject with the background and so it ends up looking like the subject has just been cut out and plopped on top of a background. Blending the subject into the background is key to a cohesive graphic.
